Robotic Tactile Perception and Understanding using Sparse Coding

In this paper, we summarize some of our recent work on robotic tactile perception and understanding problem. We analyze the challenges and difficulties and establish a framework based on sparse coding and dictionary learning, to address the multi-finger tactile object recognition, multi-label tactile adjective understanding, and multi-modal visual-tactile fusion problems. Finally, we present some future topics which are possibly solved under the proposed framework.
